NC Made Guide: Weekend in Raleigh

Boulted Bread
Boulted Bread

When you go home for the holidays, where's the restaurant with the perfectly seasoned hush puppies that always hits the spot? Or the bakery with those amazing morning buns you can't get anywhere else? We've rounded up a list of our favorite haunts that we always make sure to hit up whenever we're in town:

Bida Manda - Head here for dinner the minute you get into town. The Crispy Pork Belly Soup is mind-blowingly good. And they make amazing drinks at the bar.

Boulted Bread - Go for breakfast and a big iced coffee. Order a croissant and a morning bun and feel no shame whatsoever about eating both immediately and your lap ending up covered in delicious pastry flakes. I still regret not getting one of their T-shirts with their gorgeous logo on it.

Holder Goods & Crafts - Definitely stop into this special shop next door filled with an eclectic mix of curious objects, beautiful jewelry, and unique home goods. It has a warm, wonderful vibe and their small gallery space in front is a total delight.

Port of Raleigh

Port of Raleigh - A modern lifestyle store selling a carefully curated collection of beautifully designed objects from all over the world. Everything from drinking glasses to copper trays to puzzles, all intended to elevate your everyday.

The Morning Times

The Morning Times - Perfect afternoon pit stop for maple lattes and a brownie. We've still got a lot of ground to cover.

The Zen Succulent
The Zen Succulent

The Zen Succulent - The newest outpost of the popular Durham plant store, this bright and airy space is the perfect spot to pick up some lush new greenery or shop for thoughtful gifts.

Raleigh Provisions - Their shelves are brimming with a comprehensive selection of locally made foods, beer, beauty products, and more. It's a great place to stock up on the tastes of home and try new treats from all across the state.

Edge of Udge
Edge of Urge

Edge of Urge
 - This sweetheart of a shop is our go-to for a wide range of fun clothes, accessories, and jewelry from independent designers.

Stanbury - Dinner here is always good and always new. Tucked back into the quiet, tree-lined neighborhood of Mordecai, their unpretentious menu often features surprising twists on familiar dishes -- like the Mexican Street Corn Salad that I can't stop telling everyone about.

Escazu Chocolates

- Even though you said you were too full to order dessert, head directly next door to pick out one of their stunning house-made chocolates or find some room for an icy push pop.
