Farmer's Daughter Brand Preserves

April McGreger grew up on a farm in Mississippi but made North Carolina her home when she came to UNC for graduate school. After a long stint as pastry chef at the acclaimed Lantern restaurant in Chapel Hill, and after studying preserving traditions around the world, April founded her Farmers Daughter Brand in 2007.

April sources much of her product from the area around her Hillsborough home and piles much more fruit into her jars than is typical. This results in jams that taste more like the fruit they're made from with less cloying sweetness. Her pride of place, passion for quality and inventiveness with her ingredients have won her a whopping four Good Food Awards -- for her Spicy Green Tomato Pickles, Bourbon'd Figs, Strawberry Honeysuckle Jam, and Rosey Strawberry Rhubarb Preserves.

NC MADE is proud to feature these very special preserves in our Cross Creek Box and Plank Road Box.
